Ready Rating Program

Ready Rating Program

RCRRPDon’t let the next emergency be the one that was supposed to happen “somewhere else.” 60% of Americans surveyed by the American Red Cross aren’t prepared for a disaster because they don’t think they will experience one. It wasn’t long ago when Los Angeles was that “somewhere else,” when fire storms left thousands of citizens and businesses evacuated and wondering if there would be a home or shop to come back to. Much like a wildfire, disasters and other emergencies are unpredictable, and can happen anytime or anywhere.

The American Red Cross of Greater Los Angeles’ Red Cross Ready Rating™ (Ready Rating) program is a first-of-its-kind preparedness program that is designed to guide businesses, organizations, and schools in becoming better prepared for emergencies. Most preparedness programs focus on families and individuals, but the Red Cross saw a real need to address preparedness in the workplace and schools.

The Ready Rating Program provides information and tools in a simple, pro-active way:

By providing a cost-free framework for businesses, organizations, and schools to prepare for emergencies.

  • Making readiness measurable and visible.
  • Supplying information and resources.
  • Recognizing members for their efforts.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of all assessments.
  • Renewing membership annually.
  • Providing schools with a safety stipend.
